Our Story
Maya and Patrick first met in passing at Babson College, and they happened to plan a party together between Maya’s sorority and Patrick’s hockey team. At the time, however, they remained simply friendly. It was not until years later, when they continued crossing paths around Boston, that their story truly began.
Once they finally started spending time together, they quickly realized just how much they had in common: outgoing personalities, a strong sense of humor, ambitious spirits and deep connections to Cape Cod. Maya was born and raised on the Cape, while Patrick’s grandparents raised his father there. His grandmother and aunt still live just five minutes from Maya’s sister’s home, a coincidence that made their worlds quickly feel connected.
The two began going out, meeting one another’s friends, and quickly became inseparable. Maya tried to impress Patrick through one of her favorite ways of showing love: cooking. Although she does not eat meat herself, she was determined to prove that she could make an incredible chicken parmesan, steak, or short-rib pasta. Patrick naturally returned these gestures in his own wheelhouse, helping Maya and her roommate, Grace, hang a television and lights and work through the seemingly endless list of things that broke in their Cambridge apartment.
Knowing how much Maya loves Christmas, Patrick arrived outside her apartment during their first holiday season together with a Christmas tree in the back of his truck. The surprise became a tradition. For the next four Christmases, Maya, Patrick, and Maya’s sister Calla picked out a tree, decorated it together, and spent the day making cookies.
Maya and Patrick's first summer together brought one of their earliest, and most memorable, shared projects. Patrick partnered with his longtime friend Rory Casey’s parents, Cynthia and Brian, to purchase two cottages near the beach in Chatham, Massachusetts. The plan was to completely renovate the cottages and transform them into summer vacation rentals, and Maya was quickly enlisted to join the effort.
The renovations were extensive, but Patrick’s talent for construction, planning, and problem-solving kept the project moving toward an ambitious Fourth of July opening. There were countless late nights, trips to HomeGoods, curtains to hang, electrical work to complete, and details to finish. Through the process, Maya and Patrick discovered how naturally they worked together. They shared a desire to create something of their own, and also the ambition and determination required to bring an idea to life.
That summer they were building the foundation of a life together, meeting each other’s families, creating traditions, and having an incredible amount of fun along the way.
Maya instantly fell in love with Patrick’s niece, Sofia, and treasured finding gifts for her and watching her grow and blossom. Patrick was officially initiated into Maya’s mother’s side of the family during his first Christmas & New Year's visit to Vero Beach, Florida, where he met a great deal of family members at once and easily kept pace with the whirlwind of traditions, games, laughter, and intention that define that annual time together.
Over the next three years, Maya and Patrick’s lives became increasingly intertwined. They remained each other’s strongest supporters, always encouraging one another in their careers, personal growth, and new ambitions. They filled their time with trips to Chatham and Misquamicut, along with plenty of backgammon, pickleball, and golf. Equal in their competitive spirit, they have maintained an ongoing tally of wins and losses, although they may not always agree on the official score.
They also became experts at planning surprises for one another. Maya organized Patrick’s surprise twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth birthday celebrations in Chatham, while Patrick surprised Maya on her twenty-fourth birthday with a helicopter ride over Boston.
As they began speaking seriously about what a future together could look like, the answer felt simple: if it was anything like the years they had already shared, it would be extraordinary. The comfort, joy, and unwavering love that they found in each other had become something they valued above all else.
During the winter and spring of 2025, Patrick quietly began sharing his intention to propose with the people closest to Maya. He spoke with her mother, father, sister, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and best friends, Bridget and Elisabeth, making sure that every detail was thoughtfully considered.
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, Patrick asked Maya to marry him on Enders Island in Mystic, Connecticut. The island has long held a special place in Maya’s heart and in her family’s story, making it the perfect setting to begin their next chapter together. When Maya and Patrick began imagining their wedding, it only felt right for Mystic to remain at the heart of it all.
They cannot wait to return in June 2027 to celebrate their marriage and the life they are continuing to build with their closest family and friends who have supported, shaped, and loved them along the way.

Welcome to Mystic
Set along the Connecticut shoreline, Mystic is filled with historic New England charm, beautiful waterfront views, wonderful restaurants, and plenty to explore throughout the weekend.
Maya’s grandparents have long called the area home, and some of her favorite childhood memories were made here with her cousins, sailing on the Mystic River and spending summer days by the water. Years later, Mystic became part of the next chapter when Patrick proposed here in June 2025.
Maya and Patrick cannot wait to share this special place with the people they love most.

Mystic is approximately two hours from Boston and three hours from New York City by car.
By Train
Amtrak service to Mystic is a convenient and easy option. The Mystic train station is located close to all three of our hotel blocks, making it simple to reach your accommodations after arriving in town.
